Avoid These Common Mistakes While Using Concealer

Concealers are a great product to have in your makeup bag. They can help hide blemishes, scars, and other imperfections on your face. However, some people make mistakes when using them and end up making their concealer look cakey or unnatural. The following tips will help you avoid these common mistakes so that you can get the best results possible when applying concealers:

Choose the Right Formula

Always choose a concealer according to which type of face skin you have. If you have breakouts on your face, it would be good to consider a concealer with a matte formula. Because of its thick consistency, it helps in hiding breakouts better. If you only need an under-eye concealer, better to go with the creamy formula. Most importantly, always avoid rubbing the concealer under your eyes; dab it gently to cover your dark circles effectively.

“Less is More”

Using excess concealer is not a good idea. It will be tempting to hide the stubborn spots and make your look unnatural. Well-known makeup artists always advise choosing the “less is more” strategy with makeup products. For best results, apply a small dot of concealer under your eyes or the area you need to, then dab it gently with your ring finger. You can also blend the concealer with a brush or beauty sponge.

Choose the Right Color

Choosing the wrong concealer color is one of the most common mistakes women make. Always choose the correct concealer color, as it will blend flawlessly with your skin and give a natural look. If you are an expert and know the correct techniques for applying concealers, then you can also try yellow and green concealers.

Don’t Skip on Skin Preparation When Using Concealer

  • Use a moisturizer.

  • Use a primer.

  • Apply your concealer with a brush or sponge to ensure that you get coverage across the entire area of your face.

  • If you have acne, avoid using foundation on top of it because this can cause irritation and more breakouts!

Don’t Match Your Under-Eye Concealer to Your Foundation

While it may seem like the logical thing to do, matching your concealer to your foundation can be a big mistake. Under-eye concealers are often more creamy than other foundations and look cakey when blended with them. So always use a different color than your foundation if you want an even effect on both cheeks and ears.

Use Your Concealers Properly to Get Optimal Results

When you use concealers, it's important to know how to apply them properly. You can apply your concealer in different ways, depending on what type of coverage you want.

For Light Coverage: Use a powder or liquid foundation as a base before applying the concealer. You can also use this method if you have dry skin and need more hydration in the morning!

For Medium-To-Full Coverage: Apply a thick layer of cream or liquid concealer under your eyes and nose area before blending outwards with either an angled brush (if using cream) or a sponge tip applicator (if using liquid). You may apply it directly on the acne scars/bumps rather than on entire faces.

Don't be afraid to try out different brands and products or even experiment with different types of concealers. The best way to know what works for your skin is by using it!

For various skin imperfections, use Type Get Concealer, Eye Light Concealer, and Zit Quit Concealer.
